Something our current media industry likes to do is get us all excited about dusty old records that have been broken by our brand-spanking new creations. It's how we raced through push button phones, faxes, dial-up internet, and Friendster. But one record that actually hasn't been broken is movie attendance. "What?!" you say. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens has made more money domestically than any other film in history. The press has told us so."
Well... There are other ways to measure movie attendance film history paduwans, and NPR's Bob Mondello has a fascinating story on why Rhett and Scarlett still hold the crown. Sorry Finn and Rey.
Hard to top GWTW as an audience movie.
